Sea to Sky Cultural Journey

Posted by Daniel on Sep 3, 2010 - 5 comments

While driving the Sea to Sky Highway (#99) to Pemberton this summer I noticed a set of new road signs (well, new to me anyway) identifying sites of significance to the Squamish and Lil'wat First Nations.

It turns out these are part of the Sea to Sky Cultural Journey launched by the Squamish/Lil'wat to explain the cultural importance of markers along the scenic highway. Along with the signs, the initiative includes seven pullout shelters and culminates at the magnificent new Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre in Whistler.

You can access a map of the route here. The website for the Cultural Centre is here.
