Blacks in BC, and Beyond

It is Black History month so here is a short Youtube video about the history of Black pioneers in British Columbia.

As a slightly related aside, I have become addicted to the Disunion blog (here) at the New York times website. It is a "live blog" of the American Civil War and is the first thing that I read each morning. Every day a new entry reveals what was going on on that same day as the war began 150 years ago. Lately I've been following Abraham Lincoln, newly elected to the presidency, as he makes his way on a heroic rail trip from his home in Illinois to take up residence in Washington.

History in small bites and, as I say, addictive.
