In colonial times, the British Colonist was British Columbia's most important newspaper. “In every thing that concerns British Columbia we shall take a deep and permanent interest,” declared its founder, the irrepressible Amor de Cosmos. (Come to think of it, that could be the motto of this blog.)
Published in Victoria, it is a remarkable historical document. Now over 100,000 pages of the paper -- from its first edition on December 11, 1858 to the end of June 1910 -- are available online for the first time at www.britishcolonist.ca.
